IEYWS MEMBER POLICIES

TUITION & SCHOLARSHIPS

Tuition for IEYWS is $75 per member for the season. These funds go to offset the cost of music purchasing/rental & copying; master class clinicians; concert programs; pre-concert meals; hall usage fees (staffing, utilities, etc.); website maintenance; and the like. Auditioning students selected for the IEYWS will be expected to remit payment at or in advance of the first rehearsal.

A need-based scholarship fund is available for 1-2 students every year; ask the director for details.

ATTENDANCE

As with all performance ensembles, attendance is absolutely critical to the success of IEYWS. Participating members are expected to be at every rehearsal, warmed up and ready to rehearse at 9am.

Each student will be allowed three absences per season, which (excepting emergencies) must be discussed with the director beforehand. If you cannot make a rehearsal, it is your responsibility to notify the director immediately.

Acceptable excuses include illnesses, family emergencies, and high school music events. Unacceptable excuses include studying, non-school performances, trips, jobs, etc.

Parents will be contacted when any IEYWS member has missed two rehearsals. Regular missed rehearsals may result in removal from concerts and/or dismissal from IEYWS.

Rehearsals will begin promptly at 9am. IEYWS members are expected to be present and warmed up prior to the beginning of rehearsal. Late arrival will be recorded as ½ absence.

REHEARSAL EXPECTATIONS

All members of IEYWS are expected to:

  • Be ready & warmed up at the beginning of each rehearsal

  • Prepare their individual parts outside of rehearsal time

  • Conduct themselves in a respectful, professional manner

HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM PARTICIPATION

The Inland Empire Youth Wind Symphony is fully supportive of the Inland Empire’s public school music programs. Musicians auditioning for IEYWS must be members in good standing in their high school bands.
